When everyone has a voice, our world will change for the better.
Wisconsin Voices began as an idea. People and organizations came together to remember what we stand for and make a plan to realize our values… together. That plan included the need to build an engaged citizenry working for change and to expand the electorate by targeting underrepresented constituencies.
Over time, a shared database was developed to enhance nonpartisan voter contact and focus resources. The Wisconsin Civic Engagement Project turned into Wisconsin Voices, an affiliate of State Voices, and thus became connected to similar work and best practices all around the country.
Today, Wisconsin Voices brings groups together, builds the power of our collective voice by providing guidance, advice and support as we embark on our journey towards a better Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Voices envisions a Wisconsin where every person has the means, motivation, and
freedom to fully participate in a just democracy that provides opportunities for all people to thrive.
We unify a dynamic network of progressive nonprofits in Wisconsin around achieving shared
goals to build a better democracy. We build our partners’ capacity, amplify their impact, nurture
new leadership, promote racial equity, champion transparent policies, and foster civic
engagement so that everyone has an equal voice.
We help create the conditions for Wisconsinites who share our values to strengthen Wisconsin’s democracy for everyone.
Wisconsin Voices plays a unique role in the progressive movement by creating the structure to empower organizations in the c3 community through:
- Capacity building
- Ongoing year round civic engagement
- Convening and connecting
- Long-term strategic planning for collective impact
